Chess Master — Privacy Policy
Chess Master is a Chrome extension that lets users play chess against AI opponents, track an ELO rating and game statistics, and participate in a global leaderboard.
1. Information we collect
When you create and use a Chess Master account, we may process:
- Email address — used to create, verify and access your account.
- Username — used as your public Chess Master player name and for leaderboard/statistics features.
- Authentication information — password-based authentication data and session information required to sign in and keep your account signed in.
- Chess game data — ELO rating, wins, losses, draws and related game statistics associated with your account.
Chess Master does not collect browsing history, the content of websites you visit, your location, health information, personal communications, or payment card information.
2. How we use information
We use the information above only to provide and maintain the core Chess Master experience, including:
- creating and authenticating player accounts;
- keeping the player signed in across sessions;
- saving ELO ratings, results and player statistics;
- providing the global leaderboard; and
- maintaining and securing the account and service.
3. Service provider
Chess Master uses Supabase as a service provider for authentication and database functionality. Information required for account authentication and Chess Master features is transmitted to Supabase over secure connections.
Supabase Auth handles password-based authentication. Chess Master does not intentionally store user passwords in plain text.
4. Sharing and disclosure
We do not sell user data. We do not use user data for personalized, retargeted or interest-based advertising.
User data is not shared with third parties except where necessary to provide the disclosed Chess Master functionality (such as the Supabase service provider), to protect the security of the service, or when required by applicable law.
5. Public leaderboard information
If you create an account and participate in the leaderboard, your chosen username, ELO rating and game statistics may be displayed publicly as part of the Chess Master ranking. Your email address and authentication credentials are not displayed publicly.
6. Data retention and deletion
Account and game information is retained while it is needed to provide your Chess Master account and its associated features. You may request deletion of your account and associated personal information.
Some information may be retained when necessary for security, fraud prevention, legal compliance, or legitimate technical records.
7. Security
Chess Master uses secure HTTPS connections when transmitting account data to its backend services. Authentication is handled through Supabase Auth.
8. Children's privacy
Chess Master is not specifically directed at children under the age required by applicable law to provide consent to data processing. We do not knowingly request unnecessary personal information from children.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy when Chess Master's data practices change or when necessary to comply with applicable requirements. Material changes will be disclosed through the appropriate product or website channels before new data practices are introduced where required.

Chrome Web Store Limited Use Disclosure
Chess Master handles user data only as necessary to provide its disclosed single purpose and related user-facing features. User data is not sold or used for unrelated purposes, personalized advertising, creditworthiness or lending decisions. Transfers to service providers are limited to what is necessary to provide the Chess Master account, authentication, ranking and related functionality.
